I discovered this vintage thanks to Olivier Schneider when I went to visit him in Lincang in the heart of the pu er terroirs in the northern part of Yunnan Province.
I fell in love with this pu er sheng which comes from very old tea trees rehabilitated by Mr. Li Yu Lu, a true artisan producer. He selects the leaves of old tea trees, some of them several hundred years old, growing in the forests around his village, Xiang Zhu Qing, located in Fengqing County, about 4 hours drive from Lincang city.
When you drink it, you feel all the aromatic complexity of the old tea trees with a fresh zesty and vegetal attack, then a blooming on woody and serene notes transporting us to the heart of the plant!
A tea for aging par excellence, it is a 2017 harvest that I have stored in dry storage in Paris, suitable for many more years of aging!
