Nyot Ou forest white tea cake

This white tea, compressed into 75g cakes, suitable for maturing for several years, was produced in spring 2022.

It comes from forest tea plants located between 1000 and 1400m above sea level in the Nyot Ou district of Phongsaly Province, bordering Xishuangbanna, an autonomous prefecture of China renowned for its pu ers. The tea plants have genetics close to those of Xishuangbanna.

They are harvested by producers from the Yao villages of Ban Sehopene and Ban Huayva . At the initiative of the Laotian-French NGO CCL (Cooperation Committee with Laos), the Nyot Ou cooperative was created in 2022 to pool the production of tea from these villages and two other surrounding villages, with the profits going directly to the producers.

This white tea deserves to be enjoyed in a gong fu cha to fully blossom over successive infusions. It develops soft vegetal and honeyed notes in the cup.
