Grown in Hioki, Kagoshima Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, this shade-grown tea comes from the Asanoka cultivar, renowned for its gentle, vegetal, and umami flavors. The choice of this cultivar, combined with the tea's characteristic of being covered for about twenty days before harvesting, results in a profoundly mellow sensation with a rich, almost nourishing texture, reminiscent of broth, on a green, vegetal base.
